Arrest made after Tim Horton’s robbery in Belleville
BELLEVILLE – A 21-year-old man was arrested after a robbery at the Tim Horton’s at College Street and Cannifton Road Sunday evening.
The robbery occurred at 5 a.m., Belleville police say. A man showed what an employee believed to be a firearm before demanding money from the employee. He grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the till, and then ran from the store, police said.
There were no injuries.
Police secured and searched the area with the assistance of OPP canine unit. The search resulted in the recovery of some of the stolen cash. Detectives from the OPP’s criminal investigations branch with the assistance of Forensic Investigative Services were called in to continue the investigation.
At about 8 a.m., a Belleville officer on patrol found a man believed to be the robber walking in the east end of Belleville. He was arrested, and all the stolen cash was recovered, police say. The man had a pellet gun, they say.
The man, of no fixed address, was charged with using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes and committing a robbery using a firearm.
